The Island

The Island by Natasha Preston is a heart racing thriller. Our protagonist, Paisley, joins several other popular content creators on a brand new exclusive amusement park island resort. They have been invited to record and post about the island, gathering attention and hype. At first, all is well and the island proves to be exciting and fun. However things take a darker turn when an influencer goes missing and later turns up dead. With the boats sunk and all connection to the main land cut off, it becomes clear that they may not be getting off the island alive. While the novel was fast paced and the ominous presence of a killer on the island set a thrilling pace, there were some plot holes. In addition, the plot twist at the end was extremely surprising. So surprising to the point where it made little sense. Though the revelation was unexpected, there were no prior hints or clues that could have hinted at that. But the suspense was well written, as the characters scrambled to figure out who the killer is as the bodies continued to pile up. Overall, a good novel however the ending was somewhat disappointing.
